I was an Adopted Child back in 1970! And in those days Adopted Black Children were pretty much non existent! And yet here I was a black baby in the Adoption System! Black Children are overrepresented in Foster Care and Black Children wait longer for Adoption, Systemic Issues as well as financial issues are reasons that White Kids are more likely to be adopted and of Society´s View on Black and White Children!
Trans Racial Adoption has increased yet it can also be a sign that same race adoptions are declining! White Parents adopt Black kids at a higher rate than Black Parents adopting White Kids and this is where MY STORY comes into play!
Adopted in 1970 by a WHITE Family…..that was UNCOMMON in 1970 and yet I was one of the baby´s who DID get adopted…..yet my life was FAR from a Fairy Tale……Can you imagine growing up and looking like NO ONE in your family? What would you do?
